The Windrad combines high aerodynamic efficiency with a weight that makes it a sensible choice for most races. We developed this wheel for everyone who likes to ride faster. As speed increases, the balance between air resistance and mass shifts. That’s why aerodynamics were the focus of development, without losing sight of lightweight construction. After all, even on fast rides, there are often climbs along the route where unnecessary weight costs valuable energy.

Focus on Aerodynamics
We tested the wheel in the legendary GST wind tunnel. All measurements were taken using 30 mm-wide Continental GP5000 tires at 45 km/h on an Avona Velum road bike.
Over a wide range of speeds, the aerodynamic drag remained at a similar level to that of the DT Swiss ARC 1400 with 55 mm rim height and the Newmen Advanced A.50 wheelsets—wheelsets that are typically among the fastest on the market in this wind tunnel, yet are heavier.
Well-Proven Components
When it comes to hubs and spokes, we rely on tried-and-tested components. DT Swiss 240 and 350 hubs are considered the most reliable on the market, offering durability and lightness.
DT Aerolite spokes are the best DT Swiss has to offer. They combine minimal weight with an aerodynamic cross-section. We opted for the classic version with a J-bend head, as our measurements showed that this contributes to a stiffer and more aerodynamic wheel.
Modern Rim Profile
With an inner width of 23 mm, we have maximized the width for 28 mm tires within ETRTO regulations. For a reliable tire fit, we use a rim profile with hooks that is optimized for use with tubeless tires.
Windrad or Bergreif?
Is the Windrad or the Bergreif the better balance bike for you? It depends on where and how you ride. On flat terrain, the Windrad is clearly the faster choice; if you’re constantly going up and down hills, the Bergreif is better. For competitive riders, we recommend the Windrad on mixed terrain as well.
